Children: 1 with 1 on the way!
How would you best describe yourself?
Loves to be extremely organised and planned, oh and in control.
How has becoming a parent changed your perception of work and career and what surprised you the most?
I've always been very career-focused and wanting to climb the ladder, however having a child put all that to the side. I always knew it would in some respect but I never knew how much for me personally. I've also toyed with the idea that I need to start my own business so I can be even more flexible.
What advice would you give your younger self about starting a family?
You can't fully be planned, organised, or in total control of a baby or fully energised toddler, so just relax, go with it, if it doesn't go to your plan it doesn't matter, it's not the end of the world.
What has been your biggest challenge in motherhood to date? How have you overcome this?
Balancing the need to reply to work emails or get on a conference call and a screaming baby refusing to sleep and let go of you. This is where my "it doesn't matter" mantra has come from and that work can wait.
What are your strategies to manage the juggle of career and family?
My work understands my availability and I only work when I can do focused work so that I can give my daughter the full attention she deserves when she's awake.
What do you do for self-care?
Definitely eat too much chocolate! Exercise and a daily coffee from a Cafe is a great start to any day to make me feel good!
