How would you best describe yourself?

Recovering workaholic (pre-kids) working to balance home, work, and my own self-development/creativity. Love hiking or chilling on the beach with the family. I have a passion for figuring everything out.

How has becoming a parent changed your perception of work and career and what surprised you the most?

It surprised me how easy it is for me to call it quits between 5 until after the kids went to sleep. I could never keep a hard boundary pre-kids but they ground me and remind me what is important.

What advice would you give your younger self about starting a family?

Wait for the right guy. Starting a family with a good foundation is super important. Also, you do t have to have it all figured out, just like on the job training you’ll learn by doing.

What has been your biggest challenge so far across the stages of pregnancy/leave/returning to work?  How have you overcome this?

Potty training!!! That almost broke me! I read the books and knew the methods but when it didn’t go exactly as planned I had a tough time. I had to tag my husband in and I checked out and gave myself a break!

What strategies/initiatives do you use to help you manage the juggle of being a Working Mumma and family?

Understand that you won’t have enough time at either to do things as completely as if you only had one or the other. Learn to embrace that and become brutal at prioritizing.
